1. Horse Handlers (equine experience required)
Activities: hoof care and trimming, gentling,  ground work,  grooming,  equine massage therapy, reiki
sessions, exercising, riding. Work with the same horse to establish a healing relationship.

2.  Feeding Crew (a great way to gain experience with horses)
Activities:  sign up for a morning or evening feed shift in McKinleyville, Arcata or Eureka, clean pens,
water, haul hay.

3.  Transportation Crew (truck and trailer needed)
Activities:  help transport horses.

4.  Winter Horse Response Team
Activities: Be part of a team responding to calls or neglect or owners in trouble.  Help assess situation and
help provide crisis assistance with the goal of keeping the at risk horse in their home.

5.  Maintenance
Activities:  assist with maintaining facilities in good shape, setting up and moving pens, repairing
equipment and buildings.  Maintain tack in good repair.  Paint.  Help plan and oversee work parties.

6.  Fund Raising and Event Support:
Activities:  Help plan and staff annual fund raising and community events, assist with Play Days, riding
clinics, information booths, help coordinate events, grant writing, and develop creative fund raising
concepts.

7.  Public Relations
Activities:  Write press releases, design fliers, develop promotional material.  Be an Adoption Promotion
Specialist and ensure that all our horses find their forever homes.

8.  Become a Board Member (we are a hands on, working board) and help with the operations and
management decisions that maintain Heart of the Redwoods Horse Rescue.
