AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

It is the goal of Heart of the Redwoods Horse Rescue, Inc. (HRHR) to place each horse in the home best
suited to the needs of each horse.  In addition, horses adopted from HRHR cannot be used for breeding,
nor can they be re-sold or given away.  The horse cannot be relocated from the original approved
facility without permission of HRHR.  In the event that placement does not work out for any reason,
HRHR requires that the horse be returned to HRHR.  Adopted horses must go to a home that has at least
one other horse.  Horses are herd animals and require the companionship of at least one other horse.
OUR HORSES
       STEPS IN THE ADOPTION PROCESS
1. First, we ask you to review our Adoption Agreement (see forms online). If is is acceptable to you,  you're
ready to proceed to the next step and email us at hrhorserescue@gmail.com to inquire about our adoption
process.  You can be pre-approved even if we do not currently have a horse for you.

2. Your answers to the questions on the application serve as the basis for us to help you choose a horse that is
compatible with you and your family.

3.  We'll tell you what we know about each horse's personality and temperament and how that may or may
not seem to fit your situation. We'll also answer your questions about how to care for your new horse.

4. Once your application has been accepted,  we will contact you with the good news!  We invite you to visit
our Adoption page and see the horses that are available for adoption. HRHR will also have a site inspector
come to visit where you plan on keeping the horse. You will then be offered an appointment time to visit
suitable horses ready for adoption.   Your approved application will guarantee that you will be notified when
future suitable horses are ready for adoption.

PLEASE NOTE: This process takes some time.  In fact, we encourage you to take some time to reflect upon
your decision. DON'T WORRY, we will hold a horse for you up to 30 days.

In fact, before making a final decision on the horse you want to adopt, we will urge you to bring other
members of your family - including other horses you own- to meet him or her. This can prevent you from
being disappointed later if others in your family don't share your enthusiasm for the horse you've chosen.

Once you have selected your new friend - you will be asked to sign an adoption agreement and pay an
adoption fee. (varies).  The fee helps to cover the costs incurred with your horse including vaccinations, pre
adoption sessions with our horse trainer and a final vet check.  That's it!  Our goal is to bring humans and
horses together!

We reserve the right not to adopt an horse into a situation that we believe would be dangerous (for the person
or the horse), impermanent, or unhealthy.
